The LMU community mourns the death of Zia Larson, a junior in political science with a minor in philosophy. He was 21 years old.
Zia and had taken a leave of absence two weeks ago to return home to Seattle to work out personal troubles when he took his own life on Saturday, April, 24. His mother, Vernetta Seaton, said that the family thanked the LMU community for the support given to Zia. She added that it is important to be aware of “mental illness in our midst,” and she stressed the importance of unconditional love.
Zia’s life was celebrated Friday, April 30, 2010, at a memorial in Seattle. Condolences for his family may be left with Lisa Banta in the dean of Student Affairs office, Malone 401.
