John David “JQ” Jackson

Message from the President
September 01, 2021
Dear LMU Community:

I am saddened to share that John David “JQ” Jackson, a housing custodian in Facilities Management, passed away from cancer on Aug. 21, 2021. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Jackson joined LMU in 2008. He was beloved by his colleagues, who note that his generous nature, broad smile, and warm personality rendered him an uplifting presence to those whose paths he crossed. Mr. Jackson’s enduring passion was mentoring, and he served in that role with pride. Through his interactions with students, he shared his wisdom and listened as they sought advice on life issues. He was also an ardent sports fan, particularly of football.

Funeral services will be open to family and friends and will be held on Sept. 16, 2021, at 2 p.m., at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary, 3801 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA 90305. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. The family is also accepting donations through Cash App (send to $tamaraferguson45 and note that the donation is for Johnny in the comments).

Please keep John, his family, and his many friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D.
President
