Media Release Use of Likeness Notice
I. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Loyola Marymount University values the dignity, creativity, and individuality of every
student. In celebrating our students, we seek to highlight their contributions to the LMU
community and share their stories in ways that reflect the university’s mission, heritage,
and commitment to fostering lives of meaning and purpose. The use of student images,
voices, and personal expressions in LMU media helps us authentically represent the
student experience and advance the university’s academic and cultural presence.
This notice ensures transparency in how LMU may capture, use, and share student
likenesses in university communications, marketing, and promotional materials. By doing
so, LMU honors its Jesuit, Catholic, and Marymount traditions of respect, care for the whole
person, and community-building. Students remain at the center of this practice, as LMU
strives to represent their achievements with integrity and to celebrate the vibrancy and
diversity that define our community.
Loyola Marymount University (“University” or “LMU”) engages in the creation, publication,
and distribution of media to share and promote its academic, social, and cultural activities.
This notice establishes the University's practice to record, capture, and use the name,
image, voice, and likeness of its students, staff, faculty, visitors, and guests for university-
related purposes, whether produced, captured, or created by the University directly or by
those acting under University direction.
