Indoor Masking Strongly Recommended On Campus

05.26.22

With Los Angeles County’s recent move into the medium tier for COVID-19 transmission, the L.A. County Department of Public Health strongly recommends* wearing masks while indoors in public spaces, including offices, classrooms, and events, regardless of vaccination status.

In alignment with this recommendation, while indoors on LMU’s campuses, individuals are strongly encouraged to wear a mask that provides the best protection against COVID-19, unless alone in a room or office.

LMU continues to provide N95 and surgical masks free of charge:

  • Faculty and staff on the Westchester Campus may request an N95 or surgical mask from Environmental Health and Safety online.
  • Students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the Westchester Campus may obtain surgical masks in Malone, VDA, University Hall, Campus Safety, Burns Rec Center, and the William H. Hannon Library.
  • LMU resident students may obtain surgical masks in their residence halls.
  • LLS students, faculty, and staff may obtain masks at the Information Center.

These protocols are subject to change as the university remains in alignment with changing guidance from public health authorities. For further information, please refer to the LMU Together A-Z Index

*Masks are still required in specific indoor settings on campus where public health protocols require their continued use. Presently, the following areas require masks indoors: Student Health Services, Student Psychological Services, and the LMU shuttle. Other university departments or units are not authorized to set their own protocols.

Events and Indoor Dining Recommendations
Event hosts should relay the strong indoor masking recommendation to their guests, especially when their event is indoors. To help minimize the spread of COVID-19, event hosts who are providing food are strongly encouraged to move dining outdoors, or to eliminate food if the event must be held inside. Event hosts should contact Conference & Event Services at scheduling@lmu.edu, or their assigned Event Manager, as soon as possible to modify plans.
