Community Advisory

LMU continues to monitor the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and is working diligently to safeguard the safety and well-being of our community. Please visit LMU’s Coronavirus Website (AccessibleEn Español) for the latest information.

What's New

Reminder: Face Coverings Mandatory While on Campus

Per county mandates, face coverings are required at all times for those approved to be on campus – even when alone. The only exceptions are for those by themselves in their own private office with the door closed, or while eating or drinking. While personal face coverings are welcome, all faculty and staff working on campus will be offered a cloth face covering (pickup information provided to those approved for campus access). For information on acceptable face coverings, please visit the L.A. County Department of Public Health’s guidelines in English or Spanish.

Introducing Lion Health Check

The university is pleased to introduce Lion Health Check, LMU’s symptom check app. Effective immediately, all students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors, who have approved campus access, are required to take their temperature and submit their Lion Health Check daily before arriving to campus or departing their on-campus residence.

To access Lion Health Check:

  • Open Rave Guardian, LMU’s safety app. Follow these steps to download and install; Select Lion Health on the Rave Guardian homepage;
  • Tap the top bar, Lion Health Check (COVID-19 Prescreening Tool);
  • Enter your LMU authentication information and follow the prompts to complete the symptom check;
  • Lion Health Check may also be accessed here.

Once submitted, you will receive a response either confirming campus access (Green Check), or denying campus access (Red X, with additional information). You must receive a confirmation in order to enter campus that day.

Per L.A. County Public Health orders, a Lion Health Check submission, which expires at 6 a.m. daily, is required once per day prior to entering campus. Lion Health Check questions are determined by the L.A. County Department of Public Health, but are not a diagnostic tool and should not be used in place of consultation with your healthcare provider. Your privacy is important to LMU. The information collected will not be retained or used except for campus admittance authorization. See LMU’s privacy policy here.

Keeping Yourself and Others Safe This Summer Through Physical Distancing

All members of the campus community are reminded to keep yourself and others safe by following safety and physical (social) distancing requirements even while off campus. To ensure the safety of the LMU community, please practice excellent infectious behavior control (EIBC) by:

  • Wearing a face covering when you are in contact with others, on or off campus, who are not members of your household. Face coverings are not a substitute for always practicing physical distancing and frequent hand washing.
  • Frequently washing your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using a hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol, especially after having been in a public space, or after blowing one’s nose, coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Practicing physical distancing by staying home, avoiding crowds and keeping a minimum of 6 feet apart when in shared, public spaces, both on and off campus.

What To Do If You’re Feeling Ill, Have Been Tested in the Last 14 Days, or Have Been Exposed to a Positive Case

If you have been exposed to an individual who is confirmed or presumed to have COVID-19, refrain from coming to campus or leaving your on-campus residence, and take the following actions immediately:
  • Self-quarantine for 14 days from the last date of contact and monitor for symptoms.
  • Call the Department of Public Safety at 310.338.2893 for additional instructions and support.

If you are feeling ill with COVID-19 symptoms or you have been tested for COVID-19 within the last 14 days due to the presence of symptoms or exposure to an individual who is positive for COVID-19 (even if your result was negative), refrain from coming to campus or leaving your on-campus residence, and begin the following actions immediately:

  • Self-isolate if you are experiencing a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing or if you have received a COVID-19 test due to the presence of symptoms.
  • Self-quarantine if you received a COVID-19 test due to exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Call the Department of Public Safety at 310.338.2893 for additional instructions and support.

Campus Remains Closed

LMU continues to align with guidance from public health authorities:

  • Campuses remain closed, with the exception of resident students, permanent residents, and essential personnel.
  • Anyone approved to access campus must wear a face covering at all times and prior to entering campus entrances.
  • Campus residents who experience signs of illness should call their healthcare provider and then inform Public Safety at 310.338.2893. They must also follow all instructions to self-isolate.
  • Essential personnel who experience signs of illness may not enter our campuses. They must contact their healthcare provider and follow their instructions. To receive clearance to return to campus, ill individuals must contact the Department of Public Safety at 310.338.2893.

The university will continue to share more information as appropriate.
