Approach to Student Contributions
Student participation was a defining feature of the Digital Veterans Legacy Project. DVLP created multiple pathways for K–12 and college students to contribute to the project, such as courses, internships, paid roles, and ambassadorships.
Contribution included created biographies, digital projects, exhibits, and other public-facing work. LMU students incorporated veteran research into academic coursework, while interns and student employees took on more sustained roles in research and project development.
DVLP also engaged K–12 Student Ambassadors and ROTC Cadet Ambassadors in veteran research, cemetery visits, community mapping, presentations, and the creation of resources for broader audiences.
Across each model, DVLP emphasized meaningful student contribution rather than passive participation, giving students opportunities to build research, writing, historical interpretation, and public communication skills while helping preserve and share veterans’ histories.
Below are featured projects highlighting student contributions across each level of involvement in DVLP.
