Zandra Wagoner, Ph.D., M. Div.

Dr. Zandra Wagoner serves as the Director for Faculty Coaching, Culture and Well-Being at Loyola Marymount University.  She has a Ph.D. in Theology, Ethics and Culture from Claremont Graduate University and a Master of Divinity from Bethany Theological Seminary.

In her 30 years of Higher Education experience, Dr. Wagoner has served as a faculty member, academic administrator, university-wide chaplain, and professional coach.  Prior to coming to Loyola Marymount University, Dr. Wagoner served at the University of La Verne, a Hispanic-Serving Institution in So CA, for 25 years.  In that time, she served as a faculty member in Religion/Philosophy teaching introductory courses in religion and specialized courses in gender, contemporary theology, interfaith cooperation, and the environment/animals, and publishing in the areas of feminist theology, interfaith engagement, pragmatic and constructive theology, and animals in religion. 

She served twice as chair of the Religion/Philosophy department and contributed administratively as an Assistant Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences and Assistant Vice President for the Provost Office, guiding university-wide initiatives and program development for general education and core values curriculum.  

At the center of her career, Dr. Wagoner, also an ordained minister, served for 15 years as the University-wide Chaplain at the University of La Verne, with a special emphasis in interfaith engagement, well-being, and promoting university mission and values.  In this role, she was active in interfaith efforts locally and nationally, and developed expertise in bridgebuilding, conflict resolution, and restorative practices, helping the University and the broader community navigate conflict and build cultures of trust and connection.

More recently, Dr. Wagoner has provided higher education consultation and coaching services focused on interfaith/intercultural strategies and culture-building initiatives.  Trained as a Qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory, she has provided long-term coaching for 45+ faculty at Loyola Marymount University to support faculty development. Now that she is working full-time at LMU, she looks forward to expanding her support of faculty, departments and colleges with coaching and advisory services, seeking to be of service to the LMU community and its transformative education.

In her personal time, Dr. Wagoner is a certified Spiritual Director, providing spiritual care with individuals and groups.  She incorporates various modalities of spiritual direction, including Eco-Spiritual Direction, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Bio-Spiritual Focusing.  She is a certified SoulCollage® Facilitator and is currently learning the art of Animal and Nature Communication.  She dabbles in the sport of Dog Agility and shares her home with a joyful and optimistic dog named Barley.
