Devra Schwartz, Vice President for Campus Safety and Security

Devra Schwartz is the Vice President of Campus Safety and Security, where she leads the Department of Public Safety, including patrol operations, investigations, emergency management, security technology, and public safety compliance.

Prior to LMU, Devra most recently served as the Vice President of Operations at the Los Angeles Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). Most notably, she launched SALUS, a crisis management platform, which is transforming emergency preparedness, response and recovery across the LA region. Devra continues to serve as a Senior Advisor at HSAC.

Devra previously served as the Assistant Chief of Emergency Management and Administration at LMU from 2011 – 2017, and as an Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department. Additionally, Devra dedicated many years of her career to implementing online platforms and safety-related education programs in K-12 schools across the country.

Devra earned her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and her Master of Science in Strategic Planning for Critical Infrastructure at the University of Washington, Seattle. She earned certificates from the Harvard Executive Leadership Program in Leadership in Crisis for Higher Education, Texas A & M Education and Extension Services in Enhanced Incident Command and Wellesley Higher Education Resource Services in Leadership.
