Bernie Paine, Vice President, Marketing and Brand Management

Bernie oversees Marketing and Brand Strategy for LMU, leading the university’s most ambitious visibility and brand elevation campaign to date—focused on strengthening name recognition, broadening audience reach, and driving revenue across enrollment, licensing, and ticket sales. Her award-winning team’s work reaches LMU’s expansive audiences through Athletics Marketing and Fan Engagement; Brand Management (activations, experiences, promotions, trademarks, licensing, insights, campaign management); Creative and Production (design, photo/video, LMU Magazine); Enrollment and Graduate Programs Marketing; Social Media; and Digital Strategy and Solutions (LMU.edu, email, and mobile apps).

Before joining LMU, Bernie helped shape and elevate renowned global brands in the entertainment industry. At Apple, she launched the film marketing division of Apple TV+, defining its vision, cultivating industry relationships, and establishing the platform as a premier destination for the world’s most creative storytellers. Her portfolio included acclaimed films such as Greyhound, Palmer, Emmy-winner Boys State, The Velvet Underground, and On the Rocks—campaigns that fueled subscriptions through record-breaking premieres, awards, and critical recognition.

Previously, Bernie served as Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Communications at 20th Century Fox, where she led campaigns for films including Dark Phoenix, Breakthrough, The Hate U Give, and The Predator. She also spent more than a decade at IMAX, ultimately as Vice President and Head of Marketing Strategy and Planning, guiding brand and film campaigns for over 1,000 IMAX theaters worldwide. In that role, she oversaw high-profile partnerships and brand integrations with Disney, Warner Bros., AMC, and Regal, among others.

Bernie earned her bachelor’s degree in English from UC Berkeley. Beyond her professional work, she and her husband, Ben, co-founded the Keep It In The Valley Foundation, a nonprofit that provides annual scholarships to graduating seniors in North Central Washington. She is also a mentor and active volunteer for the California Alumni Association.
