When you are engaged in international travel — whether as a student, a scholar, a researcher, or in an administrative capacity — you have International SOS available to you 24/7 to help you with any medical, security, or logistical concerns, including the coordination of insurance benefits with our travel medical insurance for urgent and emergent needs.

Loyola Marymount University (LMU) has contracted with International SOS which provides a 24/7 resource on call, online, and on the ground to help with any medical, security and logistical questions and situations that may arise.

International SOS offers medical and security advice, emotional support, and referral services 24/7, no matter where you are in the world. It is designed to help keep you healthy, safe, and secure in any situation.

You will have access to:

  • A global network of 27 Assistance Centers staffed by doctors, nurses, coordinators, and security experts for immediate advice and referrals.
  • Real-time support from 1, 200 physicians and 200 security professionals.
  • Local expertise, preventative advice, and assistance from the International SOS team.
  • A network of over 79, 000 vetted and approved providers worldwide.

If you seek pre-travel advice, need medical advice or experience a security crisis, International SOS has a fully integrated program in place, so you receive the care and expertise that you need, whenever and wherever you need it.

To get started with International SOS and activate your coverage:

  • Create an International SOS profile.
  • Register your trip with International SOS.
    • If you are a Study Abroad participant, this step is completed through your Health, Safety & Security training in Brightspace.

  • All international travelers must register their trips with International SOS when traveling abroad. After you have created your profile and received your booking confirmation, follow the instructions below to register your trip so you will receive important information about your destination along with any alerts that may be applicable to your travels.

  • If you're required to show proof of evacuation, repatriation, or emergency health insurance coverage in order to obtain a visa or other travel document, reach out to the International Travel Health & Safety Office (internationaltravel@lmu.edu) with your full name as it appears on your passport, date of birth, dates of program, and countries to be visited. A Certificate of Insurance will be provided to you.
