Rebecca Chandler, Vice President for Human Resources

Rebecca Chandler is a seasoned human resource practitioner. Beyond experience that spans the full scope of human resource disciplines she has a deep understanding of leading mission driven institutions. An example of work that encompasses mission is promoting longitudinal climate studies for students, faculty, and staff using the results to inform and transform the living, learning, and working environments. With a strong commitment to inclusiveness many strategies have been employed: intercultural advisory committees, workshops for faculty and staff – Hiring for Mission, and extensive collaboration on sexual assault awareness programming – Report & Support.

Her experience includes: extensive employee relations background and employment litigation; policy development; compensation and benefits; HRIS experience with both ERP and cloud hosted systems; labor relations including union negotiations, NLRB hearings, and union campaigns; served as EEO Officer; and organizational development. As a "business partner" she has successfully teamed with institutional leadership to plan, develop, and execute numerous programs. She has a strong background in academic administration providing leadership and guidance in the areas of faculty development; compensation; complex research and compliance matters; faculty contracting and rank & tenure; and faculty governance processes. She possesses an in depth understanding of the design, implementation, and monitoring of compliance activities related to employee benefits from group health plans to retirement plans to voluntary benefits to statutory benefits to oversight of a childcare center serving 110 families.

Prior to joining Loyola Marymount University in April of 2004 as Vice President for Human Resources, she spent 15 years with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as Director for Academic Affairs, Compliance and Employee/Labor Relations. Other professional experiences include an engagement with the largest minority owned federal contractor in St. Louis, Missouri; an appointment as Director for Human Resources for a high-tech start-up company in Hayward, California; and served as Northern California Human Resources Manager for McKesson Corporation (Foremost Dairies, Inc.). She is a graduate of the University of San Francisco.
