Daily Update for Faculty With Senate & Library Information

03.17.20

LMU continues to monitor the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and is working diligently to safeguard the safety and well-being of our community. Please visit LMU’s Coronavirus Website for the latest information.

A Message from the LMU Faculty Senate President
As COVID-19 changes the way we work and interact this semester, our top priority remains the health and well-being of our campus community. At the same time, we as the Faculty Senate Executive Committee want to assure our faculty that we are continually in touch with the Provost and university leadership to protect the integrity of the classroom experience.

We appreciate your hard work these past few days shifting your classes into online modes of instruction and recognize your dedication to our students and our mission. Starting tonight, all faculty will have access to a new collaborative Brightspace page to help fellow instructors move coursework online that includes a number of discussion boards for faculty to post questions, comments, assignment examples, and other resources. We encourage you to utilize the tools and resources provided by our colleagues in ITS: Keep Teaching, the William H. Hannon Library, the Center for Teaching Excellence, as well as your schools and colleges. Please contact your department chairs or deans about questions that cannot be answered via the LMU Coronavirus website.

Feel free to contact me at facsenpresident@lmu.edu.

Sincerely,

Marne L. Campbell, Faculty Senate President
On behalf of the Faculty Senate Executive Board (Dorothea Herreiner, John Jackson, and KJ Peters)

William H. Hannon Library Closure
The William H. Hannon will close beginning March 18. Librarians will be available to answer questions through their online chat service. Students and faculty can also request an appointment via Zoom with a librarian. Librarians can provide guided virtual tours on using the catalog, searching ebooks, using digital collections, or navigating databases. Faculty who need library assistance scanning and posting content from books or articles, please use the Course Reserves form. Students who need access to online materials should utilize the resources listed on our online resources page. For ongoing service updates during the closure, please go to LMU Library News.
