Recording Arts

Students in LMU’s recording arts major are instructed equally on film and television sound, as well as music engineering and production. You’ll explore the theoretical and practical elements of sound recording, sound reproduction, and sound design—the fundamentals crucial to successful work in all media that tap into the creative power of sound. You’ll also examine the physical and psychoacoustic properties of sound; learn how to make, edit, and process sound recordings; and evaluate how choices in sound design affect a film or TV project. Best of all, you’ll be able to put your knowledge and creativity to work at SFTV’s sound stages, studios, and audio workstations.
