As senior vice president and chief financial officer, Thomas O. Fleming, Jr. is responsible for the financial operations of Loyola Marymount University. Prior to assuming the position of vice president, Fleming served as acting vice president and chief financial officer since 2002 and as LMU's controller since 1996.
During his tenure with LMU, Fleming has reengineered the university's budget process, directed and managed the implementation of the Oracle Financial System. He has also directed and managed endowment, improved cash controls, and overseen public debt issuances and enterprise risk management.
Prior to his tenure with LMU, Fleming held the position of vice president and general manager of the McKay Division of Blue Coral, Inc., a leader in automotive waxes and related products. He held other positions in the Houston based company from 1988 to 1996. A certified public accountant (inactive status), Fleming has also worked at Matrix Science Corporation in Torrance, The Flying Tiger Line Inc., in Los Angeles and Arthur Andersen & Co., also in Los Angeles.
He is a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities Business Officers, National Association of College Business Officers, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CGMA Designation), the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.
Fleming received his bachelor's degree in commerce with special attainments in accounting from Washington and Lee University.
