Transfer Orientation

Overview

We strongly encourage you to begin your academic career by attending LMU Transfer Orientation. Attending orientation is the best way to acclimate to life at LMU. Orientation will help you become familiar with your new campus, learn about student life and introduce you to new students along with helpful, friendly, faculty and staff.

Some of the activities that take place at orientation include:

  • Opportunities to meet faculty and discuss questions about the University
  • Introductions to LMU’s wide-ranging events, clubs and organizations
  • Discussions with current students about various involvement opportunities on campus
  • A chance to speak with representatives from all administration areas (Registrar, One-Card, Financial Aid, etc.)

You may register for your semester classes during your orientation session or prior to arriving on campus via PROWL (recommended).

If extenuating circumstances prevent you from attending an orientation session, you may request a materials packet. This packet will provide you with the basic information to help you succeed as a transfer student. Again, nothing can prepare you more as a transfer student than Transfer Orientation. It is highly advised that you attend.

New LMU transfer students should click here to download a new student checklist. This checklist will provide you with a list of resources to use both before and after your Transfer Orientation. In addition, new transfer students can use the online articulation history to see how courses taken at a specific College or University have articulated previously at LMU. This guide can help in choosing courses and seeing in advance how those courses will transfer to LMU. In addition to the articulation history, a student may view there CAPP Report on PROWL

What to Wear

Casual attire is appropriate for orientation. The weather in Los Angeles is generally warm during the day, but early mornings and evenings can be cool so we suggest bringing light clothing and a jacket. We also recommend bringing comfortable shoes since the program involves a lot of walking. Students should also bring a backpack or bag to carry materials.
