Basic Requirements
All Student Leadership and Service Awards require satisfactory academic and disciplinary standing as defined and verified by the Registrar’s Office and Judicial Affairs.
Specific Award Criteria
Sr. Raymunde McKay, RSHM Awards
- Recipients: Members of the graduating senior class
- Award Period: Entire undergraduate career
Fr. Alfred Kilp, S.J. Awards
- Recipients: Members of the current junior class
- Award Period: The current academic year
Dr. Renée Harangue Awards
- Recipients: Members of the current sophomore class
- Award Period: The current academic year
Sr. Peg Dolan, RSHM Awards
- Recipients: Members of the current first year class
- Award Period: The current academic year
Description for Above Awards: Presented to the outstanding First Year, Sophomore, Junior and Senior students who have significantly excelled in the following ways:
Service & Leadership
- Was aware and reflective of the beliefs, values, attitudes and emotions that motivate his or her actions
- Gave generous service to, and as a representative of, the LMU community
- Advocated for local and/or global justice issues
- Valued interculturalism and appreciated various perspectives and talents
- Believed in the importance of making a better world for oneself & others
- Challenged themselves and others
Campus Impact
- Promoted school pride
- Enriched the quality of campus life
- Inspired and galvanized students to collaborate on a program with a positive impact
- Invested significantly to an idea or project both in terms of intensity and duration

Fr. Robert Graham, S.J.
Alumni Award
- Recipients: Two graduating seniors; one male and one female
- Award Period: Entire undergraduate career
Description: Considered to be the Division of Student Affairs’ highest honor, the Graham is presented to the outstanding graduating senior man and woman who have excelled in service and leadership throughout their entire undergraduate careers. The recipients have consistently and effectively translated the University’s call to be servants and leaders into their daily lives, and they best exemplify LMU’s identity, goals, and spirits. Graham awardees are selected from among the most accomplished McKay nominees. A separate letter of nomination is not required, but do address why your nominee is worthy of such an award if applicable.
Fr. James Loughran, S.J.
Community Service Award
- Recipients: One graduating senior, male or female
- Award Period: Entire undergraduate career
Description: Presented to the outstanding graduating senior who, through consistent and sustained leadership and involvement with the community beyond the campus, has brought credit to the University’s reputation. The recipient exemplifies Ignatian and Marian ideals of hard work and generosity; has had a significant impact in off-campus service; and has displayed exceptional promise of selfless and effective leadership in the years ahead.

Intercultural Leadership Award
- Recipients: One graduating senior, male or female
- Award Period: Entire undergraduate career
Description: Presented to a graduating senior who serves as an agent of change committed to the Loyola Marymount legacy of cultural consciousness and progressive social action. The recipient engages in both philosophical and practical educational opportunities, which promote greater appreciation and understanding among all cultures.
