About the Leadership Institute:
The LMU Leadership Institute is one of several leadership opportunities offered through Student Leadership and Development. It is a three component program, open to all students, that includes a curricular, co-curricular and capstone experience. It is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership Development and the three components focus on Individual Values, Group Values and Community Values.
Required Qualifications:
- Exempt Staff member in the Division of Student Affairs
- Master’s Degree
Position Requirements:
- Attend instructor orientation and training in August (date to be determined).
- Co-Teach EDLA 489-Leadership Seminar I, EDLA 490-Leadership Seminar II, or EDLA 491-Leadership Seminar III, once a week for 13 -15 weeks.
- Assist with outreach/recruitment of institute participants and promotion of institute offerings.
Instructor Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in 4 preparation and feedback meetings with all course instructors throughout the semester.
- Carry out classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods including group discussions, learning activities, and writing.
- Grade all course assignments and presentations.
- Keep record of attendance, class participation and grades.
- Assign final course grades (according to uniform guidelines).
- Hold mid semester check-in meetings with each student.
- Set and hold Office Hours during the semester
- Conduct all class meetings personally except in an emergency; notifying co-instructor and the coordinator in an emergency.
- Notify the Leadership Institute coordinator of any problems related to class.
- Deliver any LMU Leadership Institute announcements to class.
Compensation:
- $1,000 stipend per semester per course for each co-instructor.
