American Society of Mechanical Engineers

The LMU chapter of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) is committed to empowering students of science and engineering through academic, social, and professional events/competitions in order to foster a strong, intellectually-minded society on Loyola Marymount University's campus.

Athletic Training Society

The Athletic Training Society at Loyola Marymount University works to promote and educate individuals about the athletic training profession. In addition to the Athletic Training Educational Program (ATEP) the Athletic Training Society looks to further the understanding of the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. We strive to provide excellent care for all Loyola Marymount University athletes along with athletes in the greater Los Angeles area. The Athletic Training Society will prepare our members for the Board of Certification exam at the end of his or her completion of Loyola Marymount University’s ATEP. Our goal is to prepare our members for careers in a variety of allied health professions.

Computer Science Consortium

The CSC offers students a fun and friendly environment to learn more about the field of Computer Science and promotes the Computer Science major at LMU. By building awareness and excitement around the program the CSC hopes to increase the number of students entering the Computer Science department and foster enthusiasm around a career in Computer Science. Additionally, the CSC is an official student chapter of the ACM.

Mock Trial Association

The mission of the LMU Mock Trial Association is to foster interest in the law while providing trial advocacy training and experience to LMU students. This will be accomplished through engaging in trial simulation competitions with other collegiate teams nationwide, where students will develop critical thinking and public speaking skills as well as acquire knowledge of legal practices and procedures.

Model United Nations

Model United Nations at Loyola Marymount University (MUN @ LMU) seeks to engage students in authentic simulations of the United Nations (UN) system through enhancing students' understanding of the political, institutional, and procedural workings of the UN in order to develop skills such as debate, public speaking, compromise, conflict resolution, and negotiation. The club also seeks to foster international awareness and understanding of the global society through this process of simulation and other events. MUN @ LMU encourages students to critically think and address international issues. Lastly, this organization seeks to enhance LMU's political science program and many of the other Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts departments' programs, especially for those faculty and students interested in international relations. The club will also advocate for certain issues and provide an outlet for philanthropy for the LMU and greater community.

Pre-Dental Club

The purpose of Pre-Dental club is to provide students interested in the field of dentistry with guidance and preparation for applying to dental schools. The organization also plans to have LMU alumni as well as dental school admissions representatives and KAPLAN representatives come in and lend their wisdom and advice. The organization strives to form close networks with the dental community outside LMU so that the organization may be able to excursion to and tour different dental offices nearby. Other forms of community service, outreach and potential seminars/speakers will be decided and planned by the Executive board members.

SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science)

SACNAS is an inclusive organization, with a membership that includes underrepresented minorities in science, mathematics and engineering. SACNAS serves and supports members with information regarding graduate/professional school and also prepares them for successful admission into graduate/professional schools. Thus, the goal of SACNAS is to foster the progression of each member from college student to successful professional – that is, to attain advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in science, mathematics and engineering.

Society of Women Engineer offers assistance and support to women in engineering through scholarships, career fairs, conferences, and other networking opportunities. SFTV Grad Society unites the School of Film and Television Graduate students and fosters collaboration and communication between the Production, Screenwriting and Writing & Producing for TV programs. The Grad Society connects SFTV grads to key industry professionals and acts as a voice for the 100+ graduate students enrolled in the School of Film and Television, both on campus and to the Entertainment community.

B-Boy Status is LMU’s premiere Hip hop/break dancing organization on campus that promotes diversity, creativity, and unity among all nationalities through the art form of dance. We want to expose the whole LMU community (as well as the outside community) to this wonderful, dynamic culture.

Spanish Club de LMU

“Somos una familia y una voz.” We are one family and one voice. The goal of the Spanish Club de LMU is to promote the Spanish language to everyone willing and interested in learning more about it. We hope to establish ourselves as a strong and recognized organization as well as make a stronger outreach to the LMU and surrounding community. The Spanish Club de LMU was formed for the purpose of promoting the Spanish language, culture, literature, and arts. As LMU’s Triathlon Club, we not only provide a means for those participating in the individualistic sport of triathlon to have a training community, but also encourage those that hope to someday complete a triathlon. El Espejo

El Espejo is a one-on-one mentoring program that pairs LMU students with high-risk youth from Lennox Middle School. The program allows LMU mentors to provide Lennox Middle School (LMS) students with college awareness and individual empowerment. This is done through fun activities throughout the year, discussions about the many issues they face, and through workshops for themselves and their parents about how to prepare and finance for a higher education. Our goal is that in the process they realize that higher education can be more than a dream; it can become a reality. El Espejo serves as a tool for LMU students to fight social injustices in our community, while creating life-long relationships.

Achieving Collaborating Today (A.C.T.) works closely with existing campus student organizations as well as community organizations to empower others via specific events, projects, campaigns, actions, and movements relating to social justice (Environmental Justice, Economic Justice, Labor Justice/Issues, Immigration Issues/Dream Act, and Educational Issues).

ECO Students promotes and advocates environmental sustainability through service and political action. ECO Students also keeps students informed with environmental initiatives and events they can participate in, which benefit our campus and the greater community.

Human Rights Coalition (HRC)

The Human Rights Coalition (HRC) strives to strengthen the LMU community’s commitment to live out the school’s own mission statement of “encouraging learning, the education of the whole person, and the service of faith and the promotion of justice.” The HRC does not take this often confusing and misunderstood LMU mission statement lightly. Rather, the Human Rights Coalition is committed to discovering and living out this vision to its fullest by becoming people of and for others, especially for the poor, voiceless, marginalized, and those most in need in our midst. Students involved in the HRC learn to understand and integrate justice and faith. The Human Rights Coalition becomes a community where LMU students can express their passion for social justice and peace through conversations, reflections, social analysis, prayer services, questions, action, and by engaging a diversity of speakers on social justice and faith issues. The Human Rights Coalition continually seeks to build relationships and collaborate more closely with others on justice and peace activities. The HRC “Unite” is an effort to bring together student groups, clubs, service organizations, the Greek communities, departments, and professors to coordinate concretely on acts of justice and activism here at LMU.

Students for Labor and Economic Justice

Students for Labor and Economic Justice is a club on campus that advocates for worker’s rights and spreads awareness on the injustices that can happen in the workplace. Our club highly respects the integral role that the LMU campus workforce plays in the development and sustainability of our university. We show our gratitude for all of their contributions to our community by fostering relationships between the workers and the administration, students and faculty.

To Write Love on Her Arms

TWLOHA University Chapters is a network of student organizations on college and university campuses that exist to embody the mission and vision of To Write Love on Her Arms. Through organized meetings and events, each chapter will serve as a voice of hope, inspiration, and support for students and their surrounding communities. In addition, TWLOHA – Loyola Marymount University Chapter will serve the LMU community as a resource for mental health education, advocacy, and empowerment. Doing so, this organization will simultaneously utilize the three prongs of the LMU mission statement: the encouragement of learning, the education of the whole person, and the service of faith and promotion of justice.
