Lost and Found Policy
All items lost on University Property are to be turned over to the Department of Public Safety. Department of Public Safety will make every effort to process lost items and return them to the rightful owner.
All lost items of value such as wallets or purses with money, credit cards, cell phones, valuable jewelry, prescription eyeglasses, etc. will be held for a 90 day period prior to being claimed, discarded or donated to charitable organizations.
All non-monetary items such as notebooks, books, costume jewelry, clothing, etc. will be held for a 90 day period prior to being claimed, discarded or donated to charitable organizations.
All bicycles turned in to the Department of Public Safety or removed from unauthorized areas on campus are held until claimed. Each September, unclaimed bicycles are given to LMU Campus Ministry.
Department of Public Safety will maintain a record of all lost and found items processed through the department. A Lost Item Report and a Found Item List will be available on MYLMU.
If an item is not claimed by the owner prior to the “claim before” date, the person who deposited the item in the Department of Public Safety may claim it. A receipt showing proof of the deposit is required at the claim time.
