Health Insurance

The purpose of the student health insurance plan is to reduce the likelihood that unexpected medical bills would jeopardize the student's financial ability to continue his or her education.  It is mandatory for all international students to enroll in the health insurance plans at LMU & Loyola Law School.

1. Eligibility
• International students at LMU are automatically enrolled in both the injury and sickness insurance plans.
• International students at Loyola Law School must request to enroll in the injury and sickness insurance plans.  As a convenience to students, Loyola Law School provides information and brochures for their recommended insurance plan in the Student Accounts office (213-736-1021).
2. Policy Effective Dates
• August 1, 2009 – July 31, 2010 (Undergraduate & Graduate)
• August 15, 2009 – August 14, 2010 (Law)

5. Student Health Center Fee
The Student Health Center Fee is not the same as the LMU Student Health Insurance. The Health Center Fee guarantees you access to the Student Health Center.   Graduate and Law students must be enrolled in 7 or more units to access the Student Health Center.

• $50 per semester (Graduate and Law students)

6. Waiver Requirements
For international student at LMU: You must show proof of an alternate insurance which is comparable to LMU’s Student Health Insurance Plan.  You must show proof of comparable coverage to OISS or Student Account in order to waive the requirement.
For international students at LLS:  As a convenience to students, Loyola Law School provides information and brochures for their recommended insurance plan in the Student Accounts office (213-736-1021).  However, students are eligible to purchase their own insurance plan which is comparable to the Student Health Insurance Plan for Loyola Law School.

7. Immunization Requirements
• (2) MMR’s (measles, mumps, rubella) Two doses at least one month apart are required if you were born after 1956. Doses must be given after the first birthday.
• Current TB TEST (Mantoux only-Tine not accepted) The test must be given within 1 year prior to the first day of classes.
Students are responsible for the completion of the Student Health Immunization Form and the submission of all necessary documentation at least three weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. Students who fail to do so may have a hold placed on their registration, which may result in registration delays. If you are unable to obtain documentation, re-immunization is required.
