Health Insurance

The Purpose of Health Insurance
Why have health insurance while enrolled at LMU?

  • LMU requires that all full-time students be covered by health insurance in case of accidents, hospitalizations and special conditions.  Students without medical insurance coverage are required to purchase the university-endorsed health insurance plan through United Healthcare.
  • LMU students enrolled in seven or more units must purchase the accident plan. The cost is assessed in the calculation of charges worksheet.
  • All students taking seven or more units must show proof of sickness insurance. If none is provided, the Controller's Office will include the cost of sickness insurance in the student's tuition.
  • International students are automatically enrolled in both the injury and sickness insurance plans.
  • Graduate students who are TAs at LMU and taking six units or more may purchase the Sickness Insurance.
  • For more information on filing a claim, please view the Student Resources page.
  • The policy can be viewed at the insurance company's website: www.studentresources.net. You can obtain a copy of your insurance idenification card at this site.

If students, parents, and, or providers have questions regarding the United Healthcare policy, please call United Health Care Customer Service at 1-877-848-8472, customerservice@uhcsr.com, or claims@uhcsr.com.
