Assessment

When you find a unit or units that you are interested in:

 1.      Write down the information

2.      Call the landlord or manager

3.      Make an appointment to inspect the apartment

Note: Remember, a landlord who keeps the property in good working order is probably someone you want to do business with. A landlord who is careless may be sending you a signal to keep looking. This is also an opportunity to find out about your prospective neighbors -- above, below and next door.

As a guideline, use the Tenant Residence Assessment provided in this packet to help you make an educated decision. It is important that you choose a place that is comfortable, safe, and conducive to your academic success. Use the Tenant Residence Assessment once you’ve narrowed down your choices. It is designed to organize simple questions about prospective places. The questions below require more detailed explanations. Use them in conjunction with the Tenant Residence Assessment.
