Preventing and Reporting Pests

Rodents
Here are some of the steps Facilities Management takes to address rodent issues:

  • Regularly checks and reloads poison bait stations around the buildings.
  • Places sticky bait in areas where rodents are seen.
  • If necessary, patch holes and fix screens.

Here are some things you can do:

  • Do not prop your door open.  Keep it closed if you are not able to monitor the entrance.
  • Do not leave garbage, especially food outside your room/apartment.
  • Throw all trash inside the trash bins.
  • Throw away your trash in a timely manner, not when it is overflowing.
  • Make sure all foods are stored in closed/covered containers.
  • Do not leave any open food out on the counter.
  • Keep your kitchen sink clean and run your garbage disposal after doing dishes.
  • Report any missing or damaged screens to Facilities Management.
  • Report any holes in your walls to Facilities Management.
  • Contact Facilities Management if you see rodent droppings in your room/apartment.

Ants
Here are some of the steps Facilities Management takes to address ant issues:

  • Delivers ant motels to your room.
  • Sprays your room.
    • Everyone in your room/apartment needs to sign a form at Facilities Management before this is done.  The exterminator is on campus each Thursday.

Here are some things you can do:

  • Keep all food in closed/covered containers.
  • Place ant traps on window sills.
  • Contact Facilities Management if you currently have an ant issue in your room/apartment.
