What's Special About our Coffee?

What sets our Coffee apart from the rest?

The cool thing about the Lion's Den is we buy all of our coffee from a company called Grounds For Change.  Now the cool thing about Grounds for Change is they are a certified organic fair trade coffee company where a percentage of their gross annual sales is given to social & environmental organizations around the world.

What does fair trade mean?

Fair trade coffee means that they treat their farmers with a better standard of living and produce cooperatives, as well as guarantee minimum fair price for their crop.

Who care if it's organic, what does that even mean?

Good question. Organic coffee is grown without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, thereby assuring the health of the soil, forest and farmers as well as those who consume the coffee (us).

Other perks?

All of Grounds for Change coffee is also "Shade grown." The neat advantage to shade grown coffee is that by doing so it protects migratory bird habitats and reduces clear-cutting in tropical rainforests as well as enhancing flavor. All of their coffee is verified as shade grown and whenever possible, their coffee is Shade Grown Certified by SMBC (this certification is only available in certain origin countries).
