Guidelines for Channel 8 Broadcasts
Request Form/Creating "Slides"
--Campus Recreation oversees all content for Channel 8. We do not design slides for non-Campus Recreation departments. If assistance is needed with design, please contact LMU Campus Graphics.
--It is highly recommended to create materials in a program such as Publisher or Adobe Photoshop for more appealing design options. Other programs include Microsoft Word and Publisher. If created in Powerpoint, some objects and backgrounds may not convert.
--After completing designs, save as jpg or pdf to ensure designs will be fully converted in broadcast.
--Requests are only submitted online at www.lmu.edu/campusrec. Actual content should be attached to the online request form, however if errors are encountered email content to josie.hutchinson@lmu.edu. Requests emailed, without an official online submission, will not be broadcasted.
--If there are a number of slides, they must be submitted separately.
Images
--Images should not be of people unless you have written consent to use their photo.
--Images submitted must be for public use and not copyrighted.
--Photo images used in slides must be in .jpeg format.
Suggested Slide Design
--Slides should be submitted with a background, staying away from white or pastel colors which can be difficult to read once broadcasted. We may need to change background color, if these issues arise. Backgrounds from Powerpoint will not convert.
--The size of font should be considered. A 42 or larger font size is recommended in order for announcements to be readable on small screen televisions. We may need to change the color of the font depending on what is chosen as a background color. If you want the font to be a specific color please specify that in your email request.
--Attempt to keep important information/design to the center, as different TV sizes may cut off edges of the promo.
--Keep in mind the design will be adjusted to a 4 X 3 inches. More specifically, the resolution is a Width of 720 pixels and a Height of 540 pixels. If possible, create a new document with these dimensions in mind.
--Save the design as a jpg or pdf prior to sending, no matter what program it is created from.
Requestor Responsibility
--It is the responsibility of the department submitting the request to do editing and proofing.
--Campus Recreation has the right to refuse any submission, based upon material errors, inappropriate or offensive content, and/or division approval.
--Through the Channel 8 Broadcast request form, the requestor will choose the range of dates the material will air. Out-dated material automatically removed by Campus Recreation.
