Alumni Host Details and FAQs
“How should I prepare?"
Students may ask you about information you’ve provided in your bio page including how you became interested in your current line of work, how your major at LMU helped you secure your first job, etc.
Please review the list of students who have requested your table, and become familiar with their names/interests prior to the dinner. If you’re comfortable, feel free to distribute your business card or other contact information to the students at your table.
Please be prepared to ask the students questions about themselves. You might want to prepare a few questions that you would like to pose to the students at your table throughout the evening. Your role is to “play host” by encouraging conversation while sharing information about yourself.
“What will the program be like?”
We would like to afford the alumni the opportunity to meet one another before the students arrive, so please arrive promptly.
There will be a reception with the student participants for 30 minutes, which will allow you and the students to meet, especially with those not seated at the same table.
We will be seated for dinner and there will be a dinner blessing. Feel free to begin the conversation by asking the students to introduce themselves and answer a question that is of interest to you.
Before dessert, each alumni host will have the opportunity to address the entire group for 1-2 minutes. You might want to share your “words of wisdom” at this time. The group will then be invited to get their dessert from the buffet. Utilize this time to mix and mingle.
“What time should I arrive and where will I go?”
Please arrive at 6:00pm, we would like for you to have the opportunity to meet the other alumni hosts, prior to the students’ arrival. The dinner will be held in McIntosh, University Hall, 3rd Floor. Please enter LMU via Lincoln Blvd. at LMU Dr. and park in the P1 Parking structure. There will be directional signage for your convenience.
