LMU Lions Show Pride at July 4 Parade

Spectators from across town gathered on Loyola Boulevard the morning of July 4 to watch the endless parade of floats and performers at the annual “Westchester on Parade Celebration.” Loyola Marymount University students and friends were among the many patriots who were present.

“Our theme is the most significant moment in education history,” said Clarence Griffin, director of community and local government relations at LMU, “With our float we are honoring Brown vs. Board of Education and celebrating diversity in the school systems.”

More than a dozen students and alumni volunteers helped decorate and assemble the LMU float. ‘Iggy,’ LMU’s mascot, was among the top crowd pleasers according to young attendees.

“The LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce does a fantastic job in organizing this event and LMU is pleased to continue to support opportunities such as these to bring the community together,” said Griffin.
