Steering Committee Releases Second Draft of Plan

February 6, 2012

The Strategic Planning Committee is pleased to share a revised draft of LMU’s next strategic plan, which will serve as a guide for moving the University forward into its second century.

The Committee is grateful to the many faculty, staff, students, alumni, Trustees, and Regents who provided thoughtful feedback on the first draft of the plan.   Based on that input, as well as the President’s charge to focus on academic excellence, enhancement of our Catholic, Jesuit, and Marymount identity and mission, and the strategic management of our resources, the Committee has refined the plan to focus on six strategic themes, with specific objectives and actions associated with each.  You will also notice that there is now a new section at the end of the plan entitled, “The Way Forward,” which describes the processes for developing unit level plans and tracking progress on the plan.  The set of metrics referred to in this section is still under development.

The revised draft can be viewed here (MYLMU sign-in required).

The Steering Committee has scheduled two Open Forums over the next two weeks, where students, faculty, and staff are welcome to share their reflections on the draft.  The dates and locations of those forums are:

Tues., Feb. 14, 4 to 5 p.m., in the Collins Center
Wed., Feb. 15, 4 to 5 p.m., in the Collins Center

Feedback on this draft will be accepted here until Wednesday, February 22.

As noted in the timeline, the next step will be for the Steering Committee to revise the plan to incorporate the feedback that is received.  A revised draft will be submitted to the President in March 2012.
