Steering Committee Releases First Draft of Plan

Excerpt from the Announcement of the Draft Plan
October 19, 2011

Guided by the President’s charge to focus on academic excellence, enhancement of our Catholic, Jesuit, and Marymount identity and mission, and the strategic management of our resources, the Steering Committee has engaged the LMU community in a variety of ways to gather input on perceived strengths and weaknesses of LMU and ideas for moving the University forward.  Hundreds of individuals participated in the Strategic Planning Survey, and 90 faculty and staff worked over the summer to develop white papers on key issues.

Please note that by definition, a strategic plan is selective, identifying targeted priorities rather than addressing all of the University’s needs and activities. The Steering Committee recognizes that there is much important work to do over the next few years that is not mentioned in this draft, but the Committee believes that the priorities it has articulated will make the greatest difference in strengthening LMU at this time.

Now is an important time to weigh in.  The Steering Committee has scheduled several Open Forums over the next three weeks, where students, faculty, and staff are welcome to share their reflections on the draft.
