The university is proud to invite all full, part-time and retired staff to attend the inauguration of David W. Burcham as the 15th President of Loyola Marymount University. Because university operations will not cease during the ceremony, please check with your supervisor before confirming your attendance.
An Inauguration Mass will be held in Sacred Heart Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with a community luncheon immediately following in Sunken Garden.
The Inauguration Steering Committee will need to enlist many volunteers from the LMU community to assist us in welcoming guests for the Inauguration of David W. Burcham on March 8. Please read on for information on how you may become involved.
- Student Volunteers: Student Volunteers are being recruited through the LMU Service Organizations. Please contact the VP of Service for your organization to sign up.
- Staff Volunteers: Although classes are cancelled from 12-5 PM, University offices will remain open. If you would like to volunteer, please discuss your plans with your supervisor so appropriate coverage can be arranged for each office. After you have your supervisor’s approval, please fill out this form to indicate your scheduling preference and contact information. We will contact you in a few weeks to confirm.
The installation ceremony will begin immediately following the procession. It is at this ceremony that David W. Burcham will be formally installed as the 15th president of the university. Guests may be seated after 2:30 p.m. The ceremony will end at approximately 4:45 p.m., at which time the academic flags, platform party and international flags will begin the inauguration recession.
At 4:45 p.m., following the inauguration recession, all guests are invited to attend a celebratory reception held on Alumni Mall.
