Delegates from across the globe will be marching in the official processional at the inauguration of President Burcham. Delegates can represent another university or learned institution, the surrounding community, LMU alumni, or they may be selected from within the university to represent the leadership of our students, parents or staff. Please note that this page only contains information for those who will be marching in the official processional.

An Inauguration Mass will be held in Sacred Heart Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with a delegate luncheon immediately following in the Jesuit Community Gardens.

Regalia Check-In Stations

Courtesy regalia check-in stations will be available throughout the day at the following three locations:

Sculpture Garden
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Jesuit Community
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Fritz B. Burns Recreation Center – Procession Assembly
11:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Personal items, in addition to regalia, will only be checked at the Fritz B. Burns Recreation Center station beginning at 2:30 p.m. and must be claimed immediately following the installation ceremony.  Unclaimed personal items will be in lost and found at Public Safety, 310-338-2893.


In preparation for the academic procession all delegates will assemble at Fritz B. Burns Recreation Center (adjacent to Albert Gersten Pavilion) on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 8 beginning at 2:30 p.m.  You will receive lineup instructions there.  Your guests may begin seating in Albert Gersten Pavilion at 2:30 p.m. 


The academic procession will begin at 3:15 p.m. and lead into the installation ceremony. All delegates will process from Fritz B. Burns Recreation Center into Albert Gersten Pavilion. Each group of delegates will have at least one marshal who will lead you to the appropriate seat.

Installation Ceremony

The installation ceremony will begin immediately following the procession.  It is at this ceremony that David W. Burcham will be formally installed as the 15th president of the university.  Guests may be seated after 2:30 p.m.  The ceremony will end at approximately 4:45 p.m., at which time the academic flags, platform party and international flags will begin the inauguration recession.


At 4:45 p.m., following the inauguration recession, all guests are invited to attend a celebratory reception held on Alumni Mall.  Delegates may choose to return to Fritz B. Burns Recreation Center and remove their academic regalia for check-in during the reception AND claim their personal items if any.  Please note, personal items not claimed by 6:30 p.m. can be retrieved from Public Safety’s lost and found by calling 310-338-2893.
