Password Tips
Never tell your password to anyone!
Never write down your password.
Make your password hard to guess — do not use the name of your pet (or your child).
Avoid using words found in a dictionary.
Use a Passphrase instead of simple passwords.
Be sure that you don't use personal identifiers in your password (like your name).
Antivirus Tips
Use an AntiVirus application
Keep it updated daily
Don’t let the subscription expire
Scan your drive at least weekly
LAPTOP TIPS
Treat it like cash.
Get it out of the car...don't ever leave it behind.
Keep it locked...use a security cable.
Keep it off the floor...or at least between your feet.
Keep passwords separate...not near the laptop or case.
Don't leave it "for just a sec"...no matter where you are.
Pay attention in airports...especially at security.

Use common sense when reviewing emails
Think twice – Click once regarding links found in emails
Beware of emails from those you don’t and those you do.
Be cautious with attachments
Don’t send personal information like SSN, Driver’s License number, credit card numbers via email
Beware of phishing emails that ask for personal information or want you to validate an account
FILE SHARING TIPS
Beware of peer-to-peer file sharing applications such as BitTorrent and others
Downloaded files may be copyright protected or contain viruses
Don’t allow these applications to share your files if you choose to use them
Distributing copyrighted videos and music files is illegal
COMPUTER UPDATES
Turn on Automatic Updates for your operating system
Update all applications when they become available (e.g. Adobe Acrobat, Java, Flash, Microsoft Updates, Web browsers)
