University Core and Other Requirements
Beginning Fall 2013, LMU will introduce a new set of University Core requirements. Transfer students who begin their studies at LMU before Fall 2015 may continue to take the courses for the former University Core pattern listed below to fulfill the new Core pattern. As of Fall 2015 all transfer students will be required to take courses offered by their College that have been designated to fulfill the new Core requirements. Information regarding these courses for the new Core will be posted soon.

American Cultures Studies (3 semester hours)
L. A. City College students fulfill the American Cultures core requirement at LMU.
College Writing (3 semester hours)
L. A. City College students take one of the following course:
Communication or Critical Thinking (3 semester hours)
L. A. City College students choose one of the following courses:
COMM 101, 104, 121
Fine Arts Creative (3 semester hours)
L. A. City College students fulfill this requirement at LMU.
Fine Arts Critical (3 semester hours)
L. A. City College students take the following courses:
Literature (3 semester hours)
L. A. City College students take the following course:
Mathematics, Science and Technology (14 semester hours)
L. A. City College students take the following mathematics courses:
MATH 215, 216
Students are required to complete 8 semester hours of science coursework at LMU.
Philosophy (6 semester hours)
Students are required to take PHIL 160: Philosophy of Human Nature at LMU.
Social Science (6 semester hours)
L. A. City College students take one course from each section.
(Students may choose to fulfill Section B by studying Chicano or African American Studies at LMU.)
Theological Studies (3 semester hours)
Liberal Studies students are required to take one 100-level and one 300-level theology course. L. A. City College students fulfill the lower division requirement at LMU.
