Undergraduate students of Loyola Marymount University’s nationally recognized, innovative and popular entrepreneurship program have something to celebrate: a recent gift of $5 million will allow it to further expand its programs and reach. This is great news for young, aspiring entrepreneurs who have dreamed of starting their own businesses and bringing their ideas to the global marketplace.
What sets this program apart from the others is its strong effort to combine and blend academic studies with practical, real-world, on-the-street activities. An example of this includes the program’s Distinguished Speaker Series, which brings industry leaders and undergraduate students together regularly to share, interact and learn from each other. Another popular program includes the Dinner with a Winner program, where students, successful alumni and business owners exchange ideas and explore entrepreneurial ventures. Through this curriculum and hands-on learning, students network with successful entrepreneurs, participate in national business-startup competitions, are exposed to the business world and bring life experience to their budding business plans.
The undergraduate entrepreneurship program in the College of Business Administration was named among the nation’s top 25 undergraduate programs for 2009 by Entrepreneur magazine.
