Honors Communities
Honors communities are located in several different housing facilities on campus. The primary goal of these communities is to create a learning environment where students in the Honors Program can get the support they need while engaged in this rigorous academic program. There are several rooms in Del Rey South designated for first-year students who are new to the Honors program. Sophomore Honors students are invited to live in the Rains Hall. A limited number of spaces for Honors students are available in the Leavey 6 Apartments for juniors and seniors. Faculty from the Honors program and housing staff are committed to coordinating activities and events for all students involved in the program. Students applying for Honors housing must be approved through the University Honors Program in order to be part of the community.
Honors Living and Learning Community
The Honors Living Learning Community is a living learning community housed on the fourth floor of Del Rey South. Freshmen honors students of any college or school are invited to this community. Students will take two linked honors courses; in the fall semester (On the Sublime and Writing Tutorial) and a one-hour Leadership and Service seminar in the spring semester. Members of the living learning community will enjoy office hours with honors faculty within the residence halls, allowing for more interaction with scholars outside of the academic confines of the classroom. There are also co-curricular events (trips and movies) sponsored by the University Honors Program, as well as extracurricular programming provided by their resident assistants. Students participating in the living learning community will learn in more detail the workings of the Honors Program and how to prepare for a full, intellectual life.
Students must be accepted and registered members of the University Honors Program to qualify for the Honors Living Learning Community.

Meet the Staff
Resident Director Zachary Helsper
Zach Helsper is in his first year of being the Resident Director of Del Rey South. He received his B.A. in Politics from University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in 2007 where he was involved as an RA and other student leadership opportunities. Upon graduation he attended the University of Southern California (USC) where he received his M.Ed. in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs. While at USC, Zach worked in Residential Education as a Residence Coordinator and in Student Support and Advocacy as a crisis manager. Upon graduation Zach worked as a Residence Hall Director at Cornell University overseeing Clara Dickson Hall, the largest residence hall in the Ivy League. Joining Zach in Del Rey South is his wife, Lauren; a fellow USC alumna. Zach is very excited to be back in his native Los Angeles and looks forward to making a home here at LMU!
Resident Advisor Penney Azizi
Penney Azizi is sophomore, psychology major with a pre-law emphasis from Valencia, California. She will be a Resident Advisor in the Del Rey South Honors Community. Outside of being a Resident Advisor she is also a tutor at the Academic Resource Center, located in Daum Hall. She is also involved in ASLMU, which is the student government at LMU, as well as a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
