Building Council Positions

Each residence hall/area is represented by a building council that meets weekly to plan programs and discuss needs of residents

President
Responsible for overseeing the Building Council, going to weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the Resident Director (RD), overseeing the budget, attending weekly Inter-Building Council meetings every Tuesday at 9:00PM, attending an overnight leadership training and an RHA workshop, working with Resident Advisors (RAs) and Resident Ministers (RMs) to build community within the residence halls, submitting weekly report online, leading weekly RHA Building Council meetings, and other duties as agreed upon with the RD.

Vice President
Responsible for assisting the president in his/her duties, attending weekly Inter-Building Council meetings every Tuesday at 9:00pm, taking accurate minutes at Building Council meetings and distributing them to the Building Council members, RD, and RHA Executive Board, planning staff development, attending an overnight leadership training and an RHA workshop, and fulfilling other duties as agreed upon by the President and RD.

Activities
Responsible for coordinating building activities, planning fundraising activities, working with RAs, RMs, and RDs, submitting proposal and evaluations online, attending a day long RHA workshop, and attending weekly Building Council meetings.

Marketing
Responsible for creating large posters, flyers, and other creative avenues to advertise upcoming events, designing the end of the year binder, working with the RD to order t-shirts, attending a day long RHA workshop, and participating in weekly Building Council meetings. 

Community Service
Responsible for working with campus resources and the Center for Service and Action to provide service opportunities on and off-campus, assisting with Fright Night (RHA’s main community service event), working with the RHA Executive Board Vice President of Development for other service opportunities, attending a day long RHA workshop, and participating in weekly Building Council meetings.

First Year Service Project Chair (Freshmen Communities Only)
Responsible for introducing the selected service site to the building’s residents. This position requires close collaboration with the FRESH Squad representative, building RA’s, and First Year Class Council Members. In addition, this position is in charge of planning two days of service per semester, and coordinating groups that will attend the service site. Other responsibilities include weekly attendance to Building Council meetings as well as an RHA workshop.

Hall Brawls Representative (Freshmen Communities Only)
Responsible for acting as a liaison between the RD and residents to ensure members of the building participate in Hall Brawls throughout the year, providing enthusiasm to the residents to create community spirit within the halls, participating in weekly Building Council meetings, and attending an RHA workshop.

Floor/Wing Representative
Responsible for being the voice of resident students to address different concerns and program ideas, acting as the liaison between students and Building Council, promoting programs, organizing building forums to allow students to voice their concerns about the residence halls, helping build community within the floor/wing of the residence hall, attending a day long RHA workshop, and participating in weekly Building Council meetings.
