A concert of South Asian classical music for sitar, tabla and tambura. This music will be performed by Alok Dasgupta, virtuoso of the sarod, a plucked lute somewhat akin to the sitar. Tradition passed through word of mouth and through heredity guild. A toned music of complexity only second to western classical tradition in terms of publicity during the 1960’s which was promoted by George Harrison of the Beatles.

Join APSS for an empowering field trip into Asian Pacific American-Los Angeles as we visit Little Tokyo to catch the world premiere of East West Players’ production of DAWN’S LIGHT: The Journey of Gordon Hirabayashi. DAWN’S LIGHT is a true story that takes us back to 1942 during World War II, when Japanese-Americans are forced to put their life on hold and be interned for the “good” of their country’s citizens. University of Washington student Gordon Hirabayashi agonizes over U.S. government orders. As he fights to reconcile his country's betrayal of his Constitutional beliefs refusing to evacuate and eventually being convicted of a federal crime, Gordon journeys toward a greater understanding of America’s triumphs and failures. DAWN’S LIGHT promises to be a poignant production bringing to life a true story about one’s constitutional rights in a time of crisis. Space is Limited.

This event is put on by B-boy Status, LMU’s premiere Hip hop/break dancing organization. B-boy Status promotes diversity, creativity and unity among all nationalities through the art form of dance. The event will feature dance crews from all over the U.S. and the world, as well as many distinguished break dancing professionals. $5 for LMU students with ID/ $15 for non-students/ $10 for non-students with canned goods which will be distributed to homeless shelters through the West Side Food Bank, just in time for Thanksgiving!
