LEAP
LEAP (Life-science Early Awareness Program) is a living learning community program for first-year students majoring in Biology or Natural Science in the Seaver College of Science and Engineering. Students in the LEAP program are enrolled in four linked courses team-taught by faculty members from the Seaver and Bellarmine Colleges and a staff member from Student Affairs. The linked courses, along with the residential living component and other co-curricular experiences, are designed to create a fully integrated learning experience and further the student’s interest and success in pursuing careers in the natural sciences. Examples of co-curricular programs that will be offered to LEAP participants are a pre-college “explore LA program” and a science themed alternative break trip in the Spring.
All students enrolled in the LEAP program are required to live in the residential community located on the fourth floor of Del Rey North.
For more information about LEAP and to learn how to enroll in the program, please contact the Seaver College of Science and Engineering at (310) 338-2834.
Experience from former LEAP Students
"Signing up to be in LEAP has proven to be one of the best choices I’ve made. As a first generation college student I came into LMU with no idea on what I was in for. LEAP eased my transition into college by helping me emerge into the LMU community through introducing me to the various resources on campus. The LEAP program has been the foundation to my academic success." Johnny Q 2007-08 LEAP Participant
