Loyola Marymount University hosted its annual Family Weekend on Feb. 19-21 on the Westchester campus.
The weekend started with a reception Friday evening in the University Hall atrium. Robert B. Lawton, S.J., president of the LMU, welcomed parents Saturday morning, then families began tours of the campus.
Visiting families attended several events throughout the weekend, including lectures by LMU professors about university life, a lunch hosted by the deans of each of the colleges and a men’s basketball game Saturday evening. The weekend closed Sunday morning with a Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel followed by brunch.
Marianna Villa ’00, Director of Parent Programs and Parent Giving, explained that Family Weekend is a unique opportunity for parents and children to experience LMU life together.
“Parents were able to sample the academic, cultural, athletic and community service aspects of their child’s life here at LMU,” Villa said. “It means so much to parents to be able to experience how their children spend their time on campus and visit the place now a major part of their child’s life.”
