Loyola Marymount
University’s Alumni Association is launching an enhanced
online community in April 2009. The updated system, designed to foster
relationships between the university and alumni regardless of distance, is a
significant upgrade from the current online directory.
“Alumni wanted to have
additional features on the current Web site, and this online community was
created to offer that and more,” says Tom Arteaga ’98, associate director of
alumni relations.
The online community will
allow alumni to create personal profile pages, and users will have the option
to search for alumni by name, class year or major. Other features include the
ability to upload photos, write blogs, and post class notes online to share
career achievements and personal updates. In addition, users will be able to
use RSS and Widget feeds to have the latest news and Web content pulled into
their profile pages.
“Our alumni made valuable
friendships and created unforgettable memories at LMU. Our new online community
will help our alumni stay connected to one another and the university,” Arteaga
says.
Also, the online community
will function as a networking opportunity. Everyone from recent graduates to
those looking for career changes will find the online community a helpful place to seek feedback from other alumni or connect
with professionals in a certain field.
“The online community will
put you in touch with your friends and the university in a new, dynamic way. We
know our alumni have wanted this type of resource, and we are very excited to
launch this alumni benefit,” Arteaga says.
