LMU Welcomes 40 New Faculty Members

LMU Welcomes 40 New Faculty Members

Loyola Marymount University will welcome 40 new faculty members for its fall academic term, announced Ernest Rose, senior vice president and chief academic officer.

President Robert B. Lawton, S.J., set a goal of increasing the number of full-time, tenure-track faculty by 100. The addition of this year’s cohort -- which includes nine full-time, tenure-track professors -- brings the total number of new faculty hired to 89 since 2001-2002, demonstrating the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence. Overall, there will be 369 full-time, tenure-track faculty teaching at the Westchester Campus this fall. (Official statistics are reported in November.)

The nine new tenure-track faculty and 31 visiting and clinical professors -- recruited from such outstanding doctoral programs as Brown University, Harvard University, Purdue University, UCLA, USC and UC Irvine -- will be participating in an on-going, two-year orientation process that will begin with a two-day New Faculty Orientation session on Aug. 18 and 19.

Faculty may view the complete orientation schedule by visiting the New Faculty Orientation Web site at http://www.lmu.edu/newfaculty. For more information, please contact the Office of Faculty Support at (310) 338-2733.
