Loyola Marymount University junior Meghan Fitch hopes her experience as a Hansard Fellow in London will provide her with a deeper understanding of democracy.
“I have always been interested in exploring different models of democracy and how it can be situated in different ways. Being a Hansard Fellow is such a unique opportunity to get an inside look at government and examine how democracy is played out in that system,” Fitch said.
Fitch, a political science major, will spend the spring semester taking courses in British politics and government and public policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and interning for the Hon. Graham Allen, member of the British Parliament in the House of Commons.
“I am honored to be a recipient of this prestigious fellowship that will allow me to play a highly interactive role in my research process,” Fitch said.
Each semester, the Institute for Leadership Studies, in conjunction with Allen, awards a fellowship offering LMU students an in-depth look at British politics while receiving a full semester’s academic credit.
