This Saturday
hundreds of students, alumni, faculty and staff from Loyola Marymount
University will take part in the “Centennial Day of Service” to mark the
university’s 100-year commitment to Los Angeles.
The service day
comes as LMU culminates its centennial year celebration. There will be events
across Los Angeles where the LMU community will feed the homeless, stock food
pantry shelves and organize children’s activities, as well as improve several
community parks, including Discovery Park at Ballona Wetlands.
Service
to others is an essential element of LMU’s mission, and every year members of
the university collectively volunteer approximately 175,000 hours to nonprofit
organizations around Los Angeles.
