COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH GRANTS support full-time or part-time activities for periods of one to three years. Support is available for various combinations of scholars, consultants, and research assistants; project-related travel; field work; applications of information technology; and technical support and services.

Stanford Humanities Fellowships
Since its inception in 1980, the Humanities Center has offered External Faculty Fellowships to all ranks of the professoriate and from a wide variety of disciplinary fields. Fellowships are awarded to support research projects in the humanities; creative arts projects are not eligible. The Humanities Center seeks candidates whose research is likely to contribute to intellectual exchange among a diverse group of scholars within the disciplines of the humanities.

Summer Stipend
NEH SUMMER STIPENDS support individuals pursuing advanced research that contributes to scholarly knowledge or to the public's understanding of the humanities. Recipients are supported to produce scholarly articles, monographs on specialized subjects, books on broad topics, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly tools. LMU may nominate only two faculty members, once nominated applicants submit online.

It supports research on the modern Japanese society and political economy, Japan's international relations, and US-Japan relations.

American Academy in Rome
The Rome Prize
The American Academy in Rome is the only American overseas center for independent study and advanced research in the fine arts and the humanities. The Academy invites proposals in archaeology, history, the history of art and architecture, literature and musicology. Note that these disciplines are intended to be suggestive, not exclusive. Any humanistic approach, or combination of approaches, to these areas will be given consideration. Furthermore, comparative projects and projects that cut across the conventional and arbitrary chronological limits listed above are welcome and will be examined by both (or all) the juries whose areas are involved.

This SHORT-TERM FELLOWSHIP is for Ph.D. candidates or post-doctoral scholars wishing to use the Newberry's collections to study the period 1660-1815; applicants must be members of the ASECS at the time of the award.

Huntington Long-Term and Short-term Fellowships
The Huntington is an independent research center with holdings in British and American history, literature, art history, and the history of science and medicine. The Library collections range chronologically from the eleventh century to the present and include a half-million rare books, nearly six million manuscripts, 600,000 photographs, and a large ephemera collection, supported by a half-million reference works. The Huntington will award to scholars over one hundred fellowships for the academic year 2008-2009. These fellowships derive from a variety of funding sources and have different terms.
