Reading and Writing Education Research
The INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION SCIENCES over-arching priority is research that contributes to improved academic achievement for all students, and particularly for those whose education prospects are hindered by inadequate education services and conditions associated with poverty, race/ethnicity, limited English proficiency, disability, and family circumstance. The intent is that the Reading and Writing program focuses on the identification, development, and evaluation of curricula, instructional approaches, and assessments that support the development of proficient readers and writers from pre-kindergarten through high school.
