Mason Stockstill joined Loyola Marymount University’s Communications and Government Relations Department in 2009. He previously worked as a journalist for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, the Associated Press, and City News Service, where he covered the James Hahn administration and Los Angeles City Council from 2001 to 2003. His series of articles on immigration and on the California prison system were honored by the Society of Professional Journalists, the California Newspaper Publishers Association, and the National Headliner Awards.
He has also performed communications for SEIU United Healthcare Workers-West, a union representing 150,000 workers throughout California. Stockstill earned his B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles and an M.F.A. in English and Creative Writing from Mills College, where he also taught writing.
