Candle Light Prayer Vigil for Peace
Date/Time/Duration/Location: September 10, 9pm, Regents Terrace
Contact: Campus Ministry, x82860, firstname.lastname@example.org
Activity: Pope Francis has tirelessly promoted peace in Syria, especially during this time of proposed military action by the United States in the region. LMU Campus Ministry, in collaboration with ASLMU, CSA and Resident Ministry, will be joining Francis’ repeated calls for peace by holding a candlelight vigil for peace on Regent’s Terrace on September 10, 2013 at 9pm. Please consider attending this special and important event.
In speeches, letters, audiences and tweets, Francis has urged all people of goodwill to do what they can to promote the message of peace, including his call for a day of fasting and penance on Saturday, September 7, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace. “It is neither a culture of confrontation nor a culture of conflict which builds harmony within and between peoples, but rather a culture of encounter and a culture of dialogue; this is the only way to peace,” Francis said.
September 10 is also the vigil of the 12th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. We believe prayers for peace are as timely as ever. Please join the LMU community on Regent’s Terrace for this candlelight vigil for peace.
