Date(s)/Time(s)/Duration/Location(s): November 9th, 5pm-7pm, St. Robert’s Auditorium.
Campus Organization, Contact Person and Contact Information: Center for Service and Action
Activity: Each November CSA sponsors an Oxfam Hunger Banquet—an interactive meal in which the participants experience the unequal distribution of food around the world. LMU’s Oxfam Change Leader, Allie Goldberg and the student planning committee will speak on the global reality of hunger and poverty.
Experiences: In AY 10-11, the event was co-sponsored by Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. At the event’s conclusion, attendees were invited to write letters to Congress to support the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, both of which are tax benefits for low-income families. There were 135 people in attendance at this year’s Hunger Banquet.
