This presentation will share the results of a research project intended to engage first-year Catholic school teachers in self-reflection as a means to improve their preparation. The subjects were asked to videotape themselves while implementing in their own classrooms one of the activities learned in a second language acquisition methodology course at LMU, write a two-page reflection document on their performance, and participate in an individual meeting with the course instructor to analyze their perceived strengths and weaknesses. The outcomes of the project appeared to reveal significant changes in the subjects’ lesson preparation and delivery procedures, a newly found attachment to their students, and a renewed commitment to their jobs.
Lunch will be included, RSVP to teachers@lmu.edu or Ext.85866
