LionsFund Volunteer Opportunities
No matter what you are looking for, there are ways for every fan to be a part of our LMU Athletics team. From single-day volunteer options to leadership commitments, we welcome all alumni, fans, and friends to help create a greater opportunity for the success of our student-athletes. Check out the list below and for more information, or to get involved, contact Kendra Komar, Interim Director of LionsFund at (310) 338-5125 or email us at golions@lmu.edu. With your help we can achieve our goal of Building Champions - Go Lions!
Short Term Commitment: LionsFund Summer Drive
A big part of all our success in LMU Athletics is made possible by the annual LionsFund Summer Drive. Held each summer for 5 weeks in July and August, the LionsFund Summer Drive serves as the kickoff to the new LMU Athletics season, and helps to give our teams a head start on the competition before their season even begins. All fans, alumni, and friends are welcome to participate and can help make a difference, whether you have been involved with LionsFund for years or are a first-time volunteer looking to get involved and help out for the first time. During the 3 meetings over the 5-week commitment, volunteers have the chance to meet and talk with LMU Athletics staff and coaches. Volunteers also receive special volunteer-only gifts and prizes not available to the general public.
Single Day Commitment: LMU Athletics Garage Sale
Held twice a year, the LMU Athletics Garage Sale gives our fans a chance to own authentic LMU Athletics jerseys, jackets, practice gear, and other apparel. All items sold in the Garage Sale are the authentic game-used jerseys and uniforms, or team apparel issued to LMU Athletics student athletes and not otherwise available for public sale. The Garage Sale is a special opportunity for fans to own this authentic team gear, and all proceeds from sales of uniforms go directly back to the teams to help fund new uniforms and supplies. The LMU Athletics Garage Sale is held each fall at the LMU Alumni BBQ and once in the spring during the tailgate on Hannon Field before a Men's Basketball game.
Single Day or Short Term Commitment: LMU Golf Classic and Dinner Auction
Now in its nineteenth year, the LMU Golf Classic and Dinner Auction is the largest single fundraising event for LMU Athletics and the central golf tournament for all of Loyola Marymount University. Held at Pacific Palms Resort, the tournament has raised over $70,000 annually and is a great opportunity for fans to gather their friends and enjoy a great day of golf with LMU Athletics coaches and student-athletes. Assistance is needed each year in helping to register players with the goal of achieving a sellout field, solicit and collect top live and silent auction items, and assist in event planning and preparation. In addition, single day volunteer opportunities are available for fans who want to come out on the day of the event and help staff registration, hand out player gifts, sell raffle tickets, and more.
Single Day Commitment: Regional LMU Athletics Events
Help us plan for a gathering around an LMU Athletics event in your area! Our teams play a national schedule with games all over the country, and they provide a great opportunity for all LMU alumni, fans, and friends to gather, meet and get to know each other, and cheer on the Lions together in your area. Whether it is a local road game in Orange County or San Diego, or somewhere far away from home, a friendly crowd to cheer on the team always helps to make a difference. You can help locating a pregame location for fans to gather, arrange details, and help spread the word to get a great group together. Check all our team schedules on www.lmulions.com to see when the Lions are coming near you and if you can help!
Leadership Commitment: LionsFund Council
The LionsFund Council is our group of top alumni, fans, and LionsFund donors who help to take a top leadership role in LMU Athletics. Council meetings are held quarterly and members are asked to help discuss and provide input on programs, decisions, and direction of LionsFund and LMU Athletics. Council members are asked to make a leadership level gift to LionsFund, as well as be active participants in the LionsFund Summer Drive, LMU Golf Classic, and other key events for LMU Athletics. Council meetings include involvement of the LMU Athletic Director and top administrators and coaches to help provide input on issues and represent all our LionsFund donors.
There are many ways to get involved with LMU Athletics and LionsFund and help to make our programs even more successful. No matter your level of interest, there is an opportunity that may be right for you! Each and every person helps us to achieve more than we could on our own. Contact us today at (310) 338-5125 or golions@lmu.edu and let us know how you would like to help - Go Lions!
